Heaven: AKA A Local Yarn Store

Living in a town that has Wal-Mart the only place to buy yarn, I have had to go 30 minutes away to find anything as exotic as plain wool. Hobby Lobby and Joann's are nice, but rarely have the needles in size or brand I want not to mention the yarn selection is still mainly "acrylic". So imagine my extreme happiness when I saw on Facebook that the quilting store in town had put in a yarn section. I was expecting yarn, sure but I was not expecting the high end beautiful yarn I saw in the window, or the baskets upon baskets that contained yarn!! Or the corner holding Knit Picks needles of every size plus all kinds of knitting accessories! Not a Boye needle in the store! (yes, I'm a snob, the cables on the circulars are too thick and inflexible, the needles over priced for such bad quality). Put simply I was in heaven! There was a nice little sitting area for Amber to sit and drink her coffee while I browsed through the heaps of mohair, alpaca, silk and wool. I finally picked up some Baby Alpaca Brush from Plymouth Yarn in a wonderful pumpkin color for a pair of fingerless gloves for Amber and two #1 16" circulars for socks. I opened them up a moment ago and am in love!! Such wonderful needles. The yarn ranged in price and there was some high priced and some not so bad and some left me with my mouth open that the prices were so good! I am one happy camper! Oh yes and there is a weekly sit and knit starting Tuesdays at 5:30! Happy happy!
So I'm off to nap after dancing today at a workshop and then work on a few projects. Piggy blanket is coming along, leg warmers are languishing, but look to be wonderful once they're done, poor earth maiden shawl is patiently waiting for attention. But I finished a project on time getting Mum's shawl done in time for her birthday. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to give it to her! But it's done! Haha. Well off for a nap. I'll try to take some pictures soon. Oh yes, and Honey arrived! Cutest piggy ever! I love being a piggy mummy!

Snow In Oklahoma and Mini Pigs

Early this morning we got a tiny bit of snow. We had laid in supplies for a blizzard so of course barely anything stuck, but it was fun to see anyways. I'm still living in hope for a proper snow.

On Friday we received the first pictures of our new baby micro mini pig. We knew which one we wanted almost the minute we saw her and picked her as our baby! Her name is Honeysuckle Rose Lewis Winnett but she'll be called Honey for short. She's adorable! We will hopefully get her in three or four weeks.

And this current knitting project is about to kill me. It's a delightful project, but biggish and I have myself on a strict deadline as it's for Moms birthday and I'm determined to have a present finished on time! I'll post pics when it's finished and she gets it. I also have almost finished Amber's socks and am trying to fit in work on Honeys first baby blanket. My shawl is just left in the basket poor thing. Ah well!

I'm getting back to the present, but will probably skive off for the sock soon. I heard a mention of late night Harry Potter and maybe tea!

News In Knitting

It has been so long since I wrote in here, I'm almost embarrassed. With the start of my last semester in college I find myself increasingly becoming more and more the housewife. The strange thing is, I love it! Amber began a new job a few weeks ago and with her going off to work everyday I fell into a really awesome routine involving lots of cooking, cleaning, dancing and knitting. I find I don't mind being a housewife at all! My classes this last time around are all online and I am taking a nice break from theatrical endeavors at the moment (ok, so I'm working on about twelve ideas for things and a new project just cropped up last night! I'd call it less theatrical and more literary ;)

A lot of my thoughts are about knitting or dancing so let's catch up on both. Knitting wise I'm working on two of my first designs, a shawl and an owl and I continue on with my sock obsession. In fact I just a bit earlier was trying out a new increase for the tie. I hated it and ripped out the whole thing. Amber looked at me like I was quite insane, particularly as the sock in question is the second in a pair for her!

Dancing, I am having a great time teaching, attempting to further my client base, choreographing and coming up with ideas for performance (got some ideas for student performances and for me too!) and costuming fun is a whirl in my head as well. Oh and new ideas for a photoshoot too! (what's the point of having talented friends otherwise? ;)

Well that's a nice catchup post and hopefully the only one for awhile! I plan on doing a lot if blogging about knitting and cooking over here sphere we go! O

Oh and a giveaway might happen if I get say 15 followers? Maybe something yummy and hand knit?

Till next time,
Elena
